Juror/Judge, William Ishmael

William Ishmael is an artist and instructor as well as a judge.  Ishmael has 30 years experience in the art world.  He is currently a Board Member of the Kingsley Art Club, serving as Chair of their Speaker Series.  He has served as Chair of the Art in Public Places Committee of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, Board Member of Blue Line Arts, and Board Member of the National Advisory Board for the Creative Center of North Carolina.  Ishmael also served on the Steering Committee for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts Conference in Sacramento.

Ishmael began his art career with watercolor landscapes and progressed to large, abstract works and art installations.  He has participated in a number of gallery shows on the West Coast as well as completed commissions and permanent installations for several well known organizations, including public-venue works for Sacramento organizations such as Dignity Health, Kaiser Permanente, and Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.

In addition, Ishmael has had his work accepted into many art shows and invitationals including art auctions for the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, California; The Verge, the Abstract Catalyst Exhibition at Verum Ultimum Gallery in Portland, Oregon; Slice Exhibition at Pence Gallery in Davis, California; and Shelter, a national juried competition at the Axis Gallery, also in Sacramento.

Locally his work is shown at b.sakata garo.  He also has work shown at Artise Gallery in Palm Springs and Main Cross Gallery in Lexington, Kentucky.
